The Prison Journal was developed in 1845 to disseminate information about the Society’s prison and prisoner reform work. In 1993, Sage Publications took on The Prison Journal as a peer-reviewed journal published 6 times a year, with a national and international audience. Receiving manuscript submissions from academic scholars around the world, the publication features research on incarceration, alternative sanctions, and treatment program interventions and evaluations, aiming to advance theory, research, policy, and practice. Rosemary Gido, PhD, has been the Editor of The Prison Journal for the last 23 years. Information about the journal and published articles going back to 1930 are available at

Representatives from these organizations participate in a quarterly roundtable event hosted by the Prison Society with the goal of updating the group on what each respective organization is focused on.
