Did you know Benjamin Franklin was one of the founders of the Prison Society? Join us and other Franklin-founded organizations to celebrate his birthday! The theme for this year’s event is “Exploring New Worlds”, with a focus on astronomy and astrophysics.

Prison Society Education & Advocacy Director, Leigh Owens, will lead a panel discussion at this event called "Let My People Vote: How Justice Impacted Voters are the new majority." People in prison often don’t get the info they need about elections and candidates, even though their vote matters. This conversation will highlight how increased education and awareness can drive greater voter participation.

Two Prison Society Volunteers, Heather and Ernest, are hosting events to celebrate five years of the Reuniting Family Bail Fund. They are hosing an open house that is free and open to the public. The Eagles vs. Cowboys game will be streamed, a formerly incarcerated artist will have their artwork for display, and there will be plenty of goodies, prizes and giveaways.

They are hosing a screening of the documentary Time II the sequel to the Oscar nominated documentary Time featuring Fox and Rob. Doors open at 5 for cocktail hour, screening starts at 6PM with previews of several documentaries.

Our partner organization, Community Legal Services, is teaming up with Esperanza to host a reentry clinic! Check it out for reentry services, a resource fair, job opportunities, and a SEPTA card giveaway! You’ll be able to learn about your options to begin removing past convictions that occurred in Pennsylvania on your record.

Our partner organization, Broad Street Love, is hosting an all-day celebration of all things Brotherly Love, bringing together the best of Philly to raise awareness leading into Hunger and Homelessness Month. The Prison Society will have a table at the event - be sure to stop by and say hi!

Our partner organization, Committee of 70, is hosting a block party! From music and games to conversations on civic engagement, it's a day of fun and community empowerment. Check your voter registration, make a voting plan, and enjoy entertainment while celebrating our civic landscape!
